The vaccine is for people over the age of 12.

The supply of another vaccine ZyCoV-D to protect against coronavirus has started. The special thing is that this vaccine is needle free, i.e., you will not have to bear the pain of pricking any kind of needle to get it. However, like other corona vaccines that have come to the market so far, not two but three doses of it will be given. It is the world's first vaccine, which is DNA based and needle free.

The vaccine has been developed by Ahmedabad-based pharma company Zydus Cadila. From Wednesday, the company started its supply to the central government. The central government has currently placed an order for 1 crore doses of it. This vaccine will be given to those who have not received a single dose of any vaccine so far.

Supply to seven states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab will also start

The company has started supplying the ZyCOV-D vaccine to the central government as well as to seven states. These States include Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Punjab and Jharkhand.

The company will soon launch it for sale at medical stores in the open market as well. The price has been kept at Rs 265, while the applicator of Rs 93 (the device to administer this vaccine) will have to be purchased separately. In this way, the total price will be Rs 358.

ZyCoV-D will be available to people from seven states. This is the first such vaccine that the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved to be administered to people aged 12 years and above. As the first anti-corona vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 18 in the country, the DCGI had approved its emergency use in August 2021. Later, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin was also allowed to be used for children.

Zydus had tested the vaccine on 28,000 volunteers. Based on the result of this test, the company claims that the effect of this vaccine against corona has been 66.60%.

Three doses will be taken at an interval of 28 days.

There will be three doses of ZyCoV-D. These three doses will be given at an interval of 28 days i.e. there will be a gap of 56 days between the first dose and the third dose. It can be stored at 2-8 degree temperature. The company plans to produce 10 to 12 crore doses annually.

Not a normal syringe, this vaccine will be given with the help of jet applicator

The dose of ZyCoV-D will be given with the help of a disposable jet applicator or pharma jet injector instead of the usual vaccine syringe. This is a device that is designed by staplers. Jet injectors are the most commonly used in the U.S. This allows the vaccine to be injected into people's skin with high pressure. At the same time, the needle injections that are usually used, the fluid or drug goes into the muscles. The jet injector uses compressed gas or spring for pressure.

What is the use of vaccinating with a jet injector?

The first advantage is that it reduces the pain of the person, because it does not go inside your muscle like a common injection. The second advantage is that the risk of spreading the infection from it is much lower than that of the injection with needles.
